Espanyolet

Celebrating craftsmanship through collaboration.

The best projects often begin with shared creativity.

Created in collaboration with Espanyolet, these bespoke upholstery commissions brought together hand-painted textiles, vintage hemp fabrics and beautifully considered design to create furniture with warmth, history and character.

Every piece respected the story of the materials it was made from.

The Story

Working alongside Thomas and Melissa of Espanyolet meant approaching every commission with thoughtfulness, creativity and deep respect for traditional craftsmanship.

From bespoke headboards upholstered in one-of-a-kind hand-painted linen to dining cushions and stainless steel armchairs covered in carefully sourced vintage hemp, every project celebrated materials that already carried a story of their own.

Nothing was chosen by accident.

Every decision honoured the character of the fabric and the space it would eventually call home.

Behind the Making

The bespoke headboards required careful handling from the very beginning. Each length of hand-painted linen had been created specifically for the project, leaving no room for mistakes. Additional fabric pieces were thoughtfully incorporated to achieve the perfect fit while preserving the artwork.

The dining cushions and stainless steel armchairs presented a different challenge. Vintage hemp grain sacks and linen from Espanyolet's own collection were meticulously planned before a single cut was made, ensuring minimal waste while making the most of every beautifully imperfect piece of fabric.

Thoughtful materials. Patient craftsmanship. Nothing wasted.

CLIENT WORDS

"We loved working with Hannah. She was able to transform our hand-painted vintage linens into special creations like headboards & seating cushions which really out the finishing touch to our clients projects."

– Melissa Rosenbauer | Interior designer and textile artist

THE RESULT

The finished pieces celebrate the beauty of collaboration and thoughtful making, bringing historic textiles into contemporary interiors where they can be appreciated every day.

Several of the finished pieces eventually found their home at Casamana, creating a quiet connection between two Studio Sonny projects through shared craftsmanship, beautiful materials and furniture designed to last.
